From on MGM+ is one of those shows you start watching and you soon realize you can't escape (you get it? 😁). You're glued to your screen, gripping the edge of your blanket for emotional support. Its twists and turns bend your mind in the best way possible and leave you wanting more. While eagerly awaiting the announcement of season 4's release date, let's recap what's happened so far and see what the new season could bring. Are you ready to revisit the horrors of our favorite scary town?

Previously on From

Before we get into this, make sure to get some comfort snacks because we're bringing back some From related traumas.

In season 1, we arrive in a town that's seemingly lost to the world. No one knows it exists, and once a person arrives they are forever trapped. This is the case for the family of four, the Matthews, as well. But once they arrive, things start to change in this monster-ridden place. The season changes from forever-summer to moody fall, and people start arriving more frequently.

When a bus full of people arrives, chances of survival get even slimmer. Soon enough, they realize that the food they have in storage won't be enough for everyone since the new crops failed with the change of the season. Jim and Tabitha Matthews, together with another newcomer named Jade, start to look for answers and a way out of this God-forsaken place. Yet somehow, every time they feel closer to the answer, it seems to slip away. It's like this place is intentionally playing with their minds.

As the story evolves, it starts to show even more layers. Every character is tied to the story in their own, unique way. It's not only up to them, but to us, the audience as well, to put together the puzzle pieces. Forgotten memories come back to haunt, new nightmares are introduced - as if we didn't have enough of those already - and a way to kill the monsters is revealed. But most importantly, at the end of season 2 we find out that there's a way to escape. When Tabitha goes to the lighthouse to save the children she's been having visions about, she's pushed through the window by the boy in white. When she wakes up, she's in the "real world" again. Talk about a leap of "faith"...

Season 3 follows this up with the discovery of a new place. A settlement not far from the town, and it gives the story a whole new dimension. It's connected to Jade and Tabitha in a deeper, darker way. When Tabitha gets back to the town due to some unfortunate events, we realize that there's no hope. She uncovers that this is all a cycle and no one can escape it, not until they learn the truth. In a shocking turn of events, we also learn that the creatures don't die. Fatima, Boyd's daughter-in-law, gave birth to a creature which looks exactly like the one Boyd killed in season 2. To make it even more intense, at the end of season 3 it's revealed that both Jade and Tabitha are reincarnations of people who died here and they are doomed to coming back to this town. And the monsters? Those are all people who lived in the town but decided to sacrifice their children for immortality. That's one way to keep your skin moisturized for all eternity... 🤡 After all these horrors, I wonder what the next season will bring.

What new horrors can we expect from season 4?

With each new season, the show has managed to top the previous one. It always delivered with the new dangers, twists and revelations. So what can we expect now?

At the end of season 3, a new villain is introduced to us. The man in the yellow suit is the same one Jim heard on the radio in season 1. But that's not the only time he showed up as a plot device. We know he appeared in one of Victor's mother's paintings before she got trapped in this place with her kids. Did Miranda say anything to Victor about Yellow Suit? Thanks to previous clues, I'm sure Victor knows more than he's telling his friends. Or could it be that he forgot him too, just like he forgot his sister? This place is trauma-inducing enough to do that to a person. Be as it may, I think Victor will be connected to the strange man in some way.

Another important plot point I expect explained in season 4 is Julie's time travel. Right before Yellow Suit kills Jim, Julie runs up to him and warns him about imminent danger. But this Julie doesn't look like the one we saw just moments ago. She's different. Not just her appearance, but also how much she knows. When she sees Jim, she says "she has to change the story". I think we'll see Julie experimenting with time travel and learn more and more about certain characters while trying to save her family.

After learning about their connection, Tabitha and Jade have a lot to talk about. As we found out in the previous season, they parented some of the strange children who appear from time to time. I expect the writers to pay special attention to that story line since it was one of the more jaw-dropping reveals of season 3. With Jim out of the picture, I expect those two to connect on a deeper level. Jade has come a long way since he arrived in this place, from a whiny, stuck-up visionary, he turned into an actual human being Tabitha could be somewhat happy with. I say somewhat because of the circumstances, obviously.

In season 3 they set up a few strong, well-placed plot points to follow so if my gut is telling the truth, we can expect all kinds of spooky secrets coming to the light. Will this place finally let them have a little bit of hope without taking it away immediately? We'll see, but when exactly?

When can we expect to have new nightmares?

If we look at the facts, we could expect the new season as soon as March or April this year. But that's me being optimistic. Filming wrapped late 2025. If the From team follows previous patterns, the waiting time should be between 14 and 17 weeks. That also means that the release could drag into the middle of the year but let's hope that isn't the case. I need my weekly dose of From as soon as possible. I'm just starting to realize I might have an addiction problem. 🫣

The previous season releases were delayed because of writers' and actors' strikes, but season 4 should be safe since there were no strikes this time.

So get ready, because if all the speculations are true, we'll be back in the anxiety-ridden and dark world of From in 2-3 months!

I feel like From isn't getting the recognition it deserves. It has a great storyline, a layered world, and interesting characters. The plot twists aren't predictable and the story manages to keep you on your toes. I haven't watched a show like this in a long time, yet no one seems to be talking about it. It doesn't have the cult following like IT, or the media presence like Stranger Things. Could that be why it's flying under the radar? I think that's something MGM+ should definitely look into because this show, in my opinion, is a love letter to the horror genre. It deserves recognition and I can't wait to share it once the new season's out!
